The Transition Assistance Fund (TAF) is a sub-fund within the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)’s Ocean Stewardship Fund (OSF), which aims to help increase the number of sustainable fisheries around the world. The TAF is open to all small-scale and Global South fisheries that are participating in MSC’s In-Transition to MSC (ITM) Program. This Program offers fisheries in Fishery Improvement Projects an independent verification of their progress as they move toward MSC certification*. The TAF funds projects that will support the improvements that ITM fisheries need to make to become more sustainable. Up to £50k per project is available. The deadline for applications is 23:59 on 6 January 2021.
*The MSC ecolabel (‘blue fish’ label) and certification program recognises and rewards sustainable fishing practices and is helping create a more sustainable seafood market.
