The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory located in Palisades, New York, is seeking a Senior Staff Associate II / Technical Services Manager to manage the technical support group of R/V Marcus G. Langseth under the auspices of the Observatory’s Office of Marine Operations (OMO) to insure the operational integrity of science systems for the variety of mission requirements necessary to the success of each science cruise. Provides coordination, information flow, and decision-making that is necessary to plan and carry out the research activities on board the R/V Langseth. This ship is capable of operating as a general purpose research vessel with specialized capabilities as a 2D and 3D multichannel seismic platform. This position requires moderate foreign and domestic travel.
A.S. in Engineering with 14+ years relevant experience OR B.S./B.A. in Earth/Ocean Sciences, Engineering or related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience in marine science/marine science support, OR a Master’s degree in Earth/Ocean sciences with at least 4 years of relevant experience in marine science/marine science support. Additionally, at least 5-7 years of at-sea experience onboard marine seismic, research or exploration vessels is required.
Appointments are made on a fiscal year basis and are eligible for renewal each July 1st, contingent upon performance and funding.
